StarkNet is a permissionless decentralized Validity-Rollup (also known as "ZK-Rollup"). It operates as an L2 network on Ethereum, enabling any dApp to achieve unlimited computational scale – without compromising Ethereum’s composability and security, thanks to StarkNet’s support for the most secure and scalable Cryptographic Proof System – STARK Reliance.
Both StarkNet Contracts and StarkNet OS are written in Cairo to support deployment and scaling for any use case, regardless of business logic.
